RCE Extends ANSI Scope to Include Verifying GHG Emissions under CORSIA

On November 15, 2019, Ruby Canyon Engineering received approval to conduct verifications under the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).  This scope extension enables RCE to verify any airline’s Emissions Monitoring Report and related GHG inventory report under the CORSIA scheme. Airlines will begin reporting under CORSIA and require verification from an accredited verification body starting with CY2019 and 2020 reporting periods, using these years as a baseline for future phases of the CORSIA scheme. Airlines from participating States will then be required to purchase offsets to compensate their growth in CO2 emissions as CORSIA aims to reach carbon neutral growth from 2020 onward in the aviation sector.

RCE has been conducting verifications for both major airlines and airports headquartered in the United States and Mexico since completing its first Airport Carbon Accreditation verification in 2015 and expects to complete its first CORSIA verification in Q1 of 2020.
