GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (August, 11 2014) – Ruby Canyon Engineering, Inc. (RCE), a leading greenhouse gas (GHG) consulting and verification firm, has assembled a highly qualified team to conduct GHG verification services in the forestry sector. RCE, an ANSI-accredited and California Air Resources Board (CARB)-approved GHG verification body, has teamed up with California-based firm Forester’s Co-Op to perform forest offset project verifications. To lead its forestry team, RCE has hired Peter Browning, a recent Duke University graduate. Peter received his Master degrees in forestry and environmental management in May 2014, and will be based out of the Grand Junction, Colorado office He previously worked at Wagner Forest Management, where he assessed opportunities for investment in forest carbon projects. Prior to attending Duke, Peter worked at the Climate Action Reserve where he assisted offset project developers, oversaw project verification reviews, and developed offset protocol trainings. RCE is already approved to complete forestry verifications in CARB, and has applied for its ANSI scope accreditation to complete forestry work in other GHG programs. RCE plans to begin its first forestry offset project verification in September 2014.
Michael Cote, President of RCE, says, “Because we already do a large number of CARB offset verifications in the livestock and ozone depleting substances sectors, it seemed like the timing was right to extend our GHG services to the forestry sector as well. And, because forestry projects are included in nearly all GHG programs, we see a long-term benefits in entering the space.”
